THE PAPER HOUSE

From 2015 through 2018, under the auspices of the Dysfunctional Collective, I collaborated with my wife Hope Cartelli to create an interactive installation on Governors Island known as the Paper House. The basic premise was that we had full reign over an old officer’s quarters, and so we covered the walls with paper, left crayons and markers and scissors and paper and glue lying all around, and invited the public to come join us in filling it up based on some simple themes. It was a wild ride, with people’s imaginations running free and creating a unique spectacle over the course of four weekends each summer (or, in the case of 2018, fall).
